Experience
Perhaps I can be of assistance to the student seeking some extra help in that subject that is just getting the best of him/her. I have a law degree, and I excelled in my college Honors courses, graduating cum laude. I majored in Humanities (emphasis on Philosophy) and minored in Literature. Please see my "Preferred Subjects" section for the complete list of subjects that I am qualified to teach. I have four years of experience tutoring. Most recently, I have taught over 100 hours of English and study skills to various students this past summer. My students' ages range from three to 21. Some of them are keeping me for the fall, and all of them or their parents are pleased with their children's improvement. See Wyzant.com for reviews about me. I've also tutored college students in various subjects, helped adults learn English as a second language, assisted elementary and high school children with their homework, and if it is of interest to anyone, I have coached children in competitive ice skating. I tutored my niece last spring, and we were able to raise 20 of her grades in only 3 1/2 months. I currently tutor seven students, one of whom is studying for the LSAT with my help. I also have experience teaching children with special needs or ADHD. All of my recent summer students have given me 5-Star ratings! I was also a practicing litigation attorney for many years which substantially strengthened my public-speaking, reading and writing knowledge. NOTABLE SKILLS: I am very good with people. I love working with both children and adult college students, and I think that they can tell, which makes the tutoring sessions enjoyable as well as productive. I stay focused on my students' academic needs for the duration of all sessions as I always want my students to get their full money's worth! I love to tutor because successfully passing along what I have learned about how to get that "A" that we all want is truly rewarding. It is a joy to watch students' faces light up when they "get it" for the first time. Attention to detail, logic and homework organization are all key skills for success in any coursework, so I try to teach those skills along with explaining the subject-matter; this way, the student can use such helpful techniques in all subjects and in future classes. I provide a "Homework Guide" for my students to keep at their homes, and I give a note-taking guide to my college students. Education is so important, and if I can improve someone's success in school, it is truly a blessing to me! I am an encouraging, edifying, happy and patient person which lends perfectly to tutoring. Please see my "Availability" section for details on my rate and policies. Besides that information, please note that I offer a FREE INITIAL one-hour tutoring session to determine whether we are good match for academic work. If we are, I also provide a FREE monthly progress report.

Hobbies
I love movies, eating and cooking great food, and taking vacations with my husband. Family is the most important thing to me, with tutoring as a close second. Life is about nurturing others, so that's why I do it for both work and personal life. I spend a lot of time on a weekly basis with my four nieces and nephews who range from infant to age 14. I tutor my 5-year-old niece, but the most fun I have is spending a substantial amount of time socializing with all four of my siblings' children. My family, including my stepchildren, enjoys playing games together and just living everyday life together as much as possible. Oh, and I LOVE my little pup, Peanut. Dogs are AWESOME!!
